Today, the University of Port Harcourt, rolled out the drums to say farewell to its 22nd batch of graduates in a historic Convocation Ceremony in which six eminent Nigerians were conferred with the institution's prestigious honorary doctorate degrees as a mark of recognition for their contributions to national development.
The 22nd Convocation Ceremony which climaxed today with the conferment of Honoris Causa degrees on Governors Adamu Abdullahi of Nasarawa State and Dr. Bukola Saraki of Kwara State. Others are the Founder of the Adolescent Programme (TAP), and Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Honourable Justice Mary Odili, JCA, the Chairman of Moni Pulo (Nigeria) Limited, Chief O. B. Lulu-Briggs, the Managing Director of Emerald Resources Group, Dr. Emmanuel Egbogah and Dr. Joseph Sanusi, former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Prominent Nigerians that graced the occasion include the Governor Peter Odili of Rivers State, the Minister of Education, Mrs Chinwe Obaji, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Professor Peter Okebukola, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Austin Okpara, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and other prominent government functionaries and captains of industry.
